- It started as a Google Sheet with four columns. It has thirty-one now, and two of them are called Notes.
- The person who built it left in March, and the tab called Sheet4 (do not delete) is load-bearing.

The five days, one by one
Published, so you can hold me to it. Five days works because I build one shape of app: rows that move through states, each with an owner, a date, and an email when nothing moves. The three demos are that app with different labels. Yours would be the fourth.
One call, 45 minutes, recorded. You send me the sheet. I map every column and ask about the ones that make no sense.
You get a link with your real data loaded. You click it and tell me what is wrong.
Roles, permissions, alerts. Your team logs in.
Round two of changes. Two rounds, agreed on Monday, so the week actually ends.
Handover. Hosting account in your name, source code in a repository you own, admin password you set yourself. Plus a short video for whoever joins later.
Your side of it: 45 minutes Monday, 20 Tuesday, half an hour Thursday. Nobody on your team stops working and nothing gets frozen. If your answers slip a day, Friday slips a day and I tell you that morning. If I am the one running late, I keep working and the price does not move.

Two milestones through Upwork. You fund the first before Monday and it sits in Upwork's escrow, not in my account. Tuesday you open a link and see your own data in the app. If it is wrong, you do not approve it. You never have to trust me about Friday. You only have to look at Tuesday.

What do you build, and what does it cost?
A web app with logins that replaces the spreadsheet your team runs on. Every row becomes a record with an owner, a status and a history of who changed it. $3,000 fixed, five business days, two milestones through Upwork escrow. Hosting runs about $10 a month on an account in your name.
Does it work with Google Sheets or Excel?
Both. Send a share link to the Google Sheet or the .xlsx file. Tabs, formulas and merged cells are all normal. I read every column on Monday and ask about the ones that make no sense.
My sheet is a mess. Nine tabs, half of them dead.
That is the normal case. I have never seen a clean one. Size is not the problem. On Monday I tell you which two tabs carry the operation and what stays in Excel.
What happens to my spreadsheet?
I copy it. It stays where it is and nobody has to stop using it on Friday. Most teams keep it open for two weeks and then stop opening it.
Who sees my data?
Me, and nobody else. No team, no subcontractor. My copy of your file is deleted 30 days after Friday, or the day you ask. Your data never becomes a screenshot or a portfolio piece.
Is the Tuesday link public?
No. It needs a login and it is blocked from search engines. It is not a web address with your customer list sitting on it.
Who owns it on Friday?
You do. Hosting account in your name, source code in a repository you own, admin password you set yourself. There is no license from me and no switch on my side.
What if you disappear?
Everything is in your account and in standard tools. Any developer you hire can open it on their first day and keep going. That is the point of handing you the keys instead of renting you a seat.
What if Friday comes and it is not right?
The second milestone does not release until you approve it. If I am late for a reason that is mine, I keep working and the price does not move.
What does a change cost in month three?
Anything I built that breaks in the first 30 days, I fix free. After that changes are $95 an hour and only when you ask. No retainer, no support plan.
I lose version history from the sheet. What replaces it?
Every change is stamped with who made it, what it was before and when. Export to Excel is one button, so you can take a full copy whenever you want. It is not the same as Google's undo, and I would rather say that than pretend it is.
Why not Airtable, Smartsheet or a no-code builder?
They are good tools. Under about eight people in the app, one of them is cheaper than me and I will tell you so on the call. Above eight, the per-seat bill passes $3,000 inside two years and you are renting something you cannot take with you.
Is your sheet the kind I can rebuild
Five days is a real constraint, so the shape of the sheet matters more than its size. The shape that works:
- Rows move through stages. Something comes in, someone works it, it closes.
- Three to forty people would log in. Below three, keep the spreadsheet.
- More than one person edits it, and you have lost an edit at least once.
- Every row has an owner, or you wish it did.
- The answer lives in the sheet. If it is spread across six systems I would have to connect first, that is a different job.
Quotes, jobs, orders, tickets, applications, renewals, shipments, service calls. Different words, same shape.
What I don't build
Size is not what stops me. Nine tabs and forty columns is normal. If your case does not fit in five days I say so on Monday and we do not start. What I never take on:
- Mobile apps for the App Store
- Public sites with thousands of visitors
- Card payments, payroll, anything that actually moves money. Tracking amounts, invoice numbers and who has paid is normal and it is included
- Live two-way sync with QuickBooks, Salesforce or an ERP. An Excel export your bookkeeper imports every month is included
- Patient records, or anything a clinic would call protected health information
- Social Security numbers, or anything that puts card numbers in the app
- Rewrites of software you already bought
If your sheet has a column like that, blank it before you send it. I build around it and the app works the same.
One more, and it costs me money to say it. If four people touch the sheet and nothing has to talk to anything else, Airtable or Softr is cheaper than me. I will tell you so on the call.
Who does the work
I built the three demos on this page myself. I am not a developer who learned about operations. I ran the operation: CFO and CHRO at a fintech, before that Falabella, a retailer with 100,000 employees, and BCG. MBA, Haas, UC Berkeley.
The shared spreadsheet nobody wanted to touch was mine. I ran operations off one for years, so I know which column is load-bearing and which one somebody added in 2021 and forgot.
You work with me the whole week. There is no team behind this and nothing gets handed off. Video and email, calls between 8am and 6pm Eastern, an answer inside the same working day.
